Looking for wave modifier modifications

The wave modifier doesn’t appear to propagate in the z direction, only the x-y directions even though it would be very useful for numerous applications if the z direction was included. I want waves to radiate outward in a spherical manner in all x-y-z directions, does that option exist somehow or is there an addon somewhere hidden on the internet that accomplishes this? If none exist I am willing to pay someone to make it.

apply Rotation with CTRL+A+R

No that just rotates the plane of motion. I’m not in any remote way looking to rotate the plane of motion, I want to turn the plane of motion into a cube of motion, traveling in all directions at once, not just two in any given instance.

show me the model you wish to do this with. cause if you would do that on a sphere for instance then that would just look like you were scaling the sphere up and down.

It would look like that only on a perfectly flat sphere with no depth at all, but otherwise no, it wouldn’t look like that because you’re not compensating for the delay that would affect different parts of the mesh that are perpendicular to the wave front at different local z coordinates. A spherical wave has pressure and negative pressure, it pulls as much as it pushes but in all directions at offset times. Here’s a simplification of the structure I am working with:

I assume that you are thinking of something like sound waves off an object. If this is the case I am not sure how you would visualize this other than with volume densities.

If the only problem is with pressures and forces, then your best bet would be to experiment with the physics/forces.

Still not sure if you want visualization of a 3d wave or just a force-based movement.
