Looking to recreate/figure out how this low poly tree was made

hello! i’m trying to make some low poly trees for a game/project and i saw this on a roblox game.

i was looking to see if anyone could help me with how it was done?

Blender pre-2.8 comes with a tree-generator add-on. This looks like it was used here. Blender 2.8 doesn’t appear to have it any more, but they have an Ivy generator instead. It might be able to do the same thing but I’m not sure.

You could simply use a Particle > Hair, with Emission > Source > Emit From > Volume, the volume being a kind of reshaped sphere?
