Loop Cut and Slide question

Trying to get use to blender so i am watching a few videos on how to do what i already know in 3D Max Studio in Blender instead.

When watching this video on youtube Click Here
At 2:55 it shows how you can create 2 or more loops by rotating the mouse wheel, but he states that you can not move the edges with out doing it manual.

In 3D Max Studio when i create a edge loop by selecting the edges and then hitting connect settings box i get 2 settings Pinch and Slide, are these settings really not available ?.

These settings have saved me so much time before when i have to match both ends of my mesh/object, with out them it could take much longer to do simple things.

Remember this is not Max so all features are not neccessarily there. It may appear in the future or may not. If you want to move the loop cuts along you can always scale them inwards or outwards.
The key is to learn what blender can and can’t do to know how to do these kinds of actions cleverly.
Demonstation of sliding 2 edges outwards with scale http://www.screencast.com/users/blenderwho/folders/Jing/media/665114c6-e8df-4488-b684-524111e8172a

Im not really looking for a replacment to Max im just very intrested in how blender is evolving in 2.5/2.6. All modeling programs have weakness and strengths for example in Max arrays are nice however you can’t touch your view once its open.

Basicly what you just said about what it can and cannot do is what am trying to do, i bet there is even ways for users to create there own tools such as this.

Just this is a simple and time saving tool for me and i was wondering if anyone knows a fast easy way. Blender basicly has slide when creating only 1 edge loop already, it would be nice for many users if it had the option to pinch as well.

When modeling i like to find the fastest cleanest technics to speed up the process.

Ps. Thanks for the video

I just wish people would put some effort into it, instead of reusing all the major zombie cliches they can get their hands on. Why not do it a bit differently? Make something of it…

No arguement there but it needs someone with the skills and desire to write the code and get it accepted.
In reality the tool won’t be implemented though until bmesh is incorporated into blender whenever that may be so use what is available.

Just trying to find my way around blender, looks like bender has its own way of dealing with things. I clap my hands and pat them on the back to anyone who writes these complex programs.

Thanks for all the help so far my questions 90% silly, normally about 30 mins later after posting i stumble upon the cure.
