I’m trying to make a loop in a animation i made, someone told me that you have to go into sequence editor and press N and then set end value as loop but when i pressed N it didnt come up with anything about the N value so how do I add a loop.
Well I am not too familiar with the sequence editor yet, havent had a use for it yet, but it seems to be everyones answer to everything lately
You can make a loop in the NLA editor tho by highlighting the strip you want to loop and then press N, and then setting it to repeat for however many times you want. Hopefully someone else will reply and explain how it is done in the sequence editor.
When you speak of the sequence editor…is that video ? or IPO-Curve stuff
Video. Why is it meant to be in the IPO curve thingy?
There are numerous ways to achieve this (as is often the case in Blender). The correct choice depends on exactly what you mean…
Do you want one object to keep doing one thing (cycle) while the rest of the animation moves forward? Or do you want the animation to move forward then loop a couple of times then continue moving forward? Or do you want the entire animation to loop a set number of times when it’s played back? Or, do you want it to loop forever when played back (until stopped of course)?
The sequence editor works with pre-rendered video (eg. animations you’ve already rendered to mov or avi files or image sequences.)
IPO curves can be used to create endless loops/cycles for an object(s) within an animation (where other things aren’t looping/cycling). You can use them to make a ball roll and or bounce, for example.
NLA can take an Action strip and perform a variety of functions on it. This works well for walk-cycles.
For simple repetitions, you can just keyframe something two or three times - or keyframe once then duplicate the keys in the IPO window.
To set a “loop” in a rendered animation (eg. so my player keeps repeating your avi file without me choosing a loop option) presumably requires an external editor/exporter? Maybe Blender can do this too though?
There’s probably more.
Thanks for the info, the way I want it is the last one so its like a animated GIF/ smilie type thing but i guess I’ll have to try an external editor or exporter.
