Here i did this scene to try the new raytracing feature in blender and thought there was some great possibility for progress on a photo that look after all very realistic, my goal is to do something like the dvd menu of the DVDs of Lord of the rings extended.
Reference:
(EDIT) Now it’s the true image, menu of fellowship extended edition dvd 1.
general idea is to have some stuff on the table around and have the most realistic render possible without postprocessing.
now this is my first render of it:
textured: http://web.netrevolution.com/gbeloin/elysiun/lotrbox/lotrexbox2.jpg
actualy, i’m very impress of this picture, i’ve never thought someday blender would do that, this picture is realy impresive and i’ll keep getting it up.
(edit) Now this is an actual picture of the project:
bump ma with uv… well.
some new developement, i’ll put some leaf on the table, i’m doing the scanning process and gimp job.
the dragon design is finish. i’ll model the first model it in the next two day.
Bevel those boxes, please. They should have an almost rounded edge on them.
ya, modeling of the box isn’t finish yet. tanks for c.
Just finished bevel-uv texture of the first box. The resulte is better I can tell my box is looking exactly the same, also added some bump map here and there .
need to sleep now.
I’m not sure about the sphere though. The lighting in it’s reflection isn’t very much like what we’re seeing. I’d be inclined to just take it out all together. It screams “CG!!” to me, where as the rest of the image is working out fine. Basically, anything that looks perfect doesn’t look real (that’s why everyone keeps saying bevel your edges).
The table texture isn’t nearly as nice as the boxes either. Either dirty/ding it up some or throw a cloth on it. If that isn’t the point of the render, well, then forget I said anything about the table…
i noticed your post kdiddy13. the sphere is not finished. for now it look like a perfect mirrorball lost on this table, i know, this will be a parte of the finial imagery. the lighting isn’t finished yet too. just puted a sun over to see something . the good work is coming by populating this table of stuff. And the table texture is juste… well i must find a better texture for it maybe i’ll try my new digital camera…
Hello again.
as you may have noticed this prject have stopped for almost a month. I’m sorry about that(man I wished to be back way before today), but my comp just got sick. My mother board was givin’ me a hard time. In the mean time I was using a little laptop to go on elysiun an follow the dev of cvs(very crazy these day),it was useless for blender(too slow).
So, what’s new?
-Nothing! I mean i lost all my data in the last crash so i start from zero. All previous stuff is redone now, let’s continue.
-new shaders for leaf: here is a pic:
there will be some of these on the table to give a more “lothlorien style”.
Well the new raytrace feature and feature in general have changed a lot in the past month, i’m kind of lost now. Glad to see i’m not lost in shader, modeling is another story…
comment on the shader?
Update: removed all image. Links instead. Sorry for 56k-er, I didn’t figured out you had to get 1 mb for this thread… more lite now. There is also a Actual image on the front post for a quick view…
-Added a smoke pipe and the holder.
-Map of DVD included in the box (why not…)
-Leaf is now in.
-(add)
Leaf is entirely a shader on a grid. It use ztransp with a ray lamp, i don’t know why, the raytransp give bad result and all refract setting is off. The chrome ball is off now, it just doesn’t fit on the table anymore.
Wow, that looks very realistic. You already know that the pipe texture needs work. It detracts from the photorealism. When that is fixed, it will be very convincing as a photograph.
However the smoke pipe is plainly wrong. Wood or root pipe oven are always cutted along the radia (to preserve the fibers direction)l. A pipe oven cutted on the side like this one would crack very quickly.
Back from school, Some personals stuffs in my life have stoped this project for some time now, and btw, i just wanted to wait a bit for the 2.3 manual to get full use of new feature.
I was just doing some google for a tutorial of something i can’t remember and i found this: http://www.deathfall.com/article.php?sid=3152
I did front page on death fall for the new raytrace feature! I used to visit deathfall, but i didn<t for a while now. doh! anyway. have to fihish this thing of soon.
And finaly anyone can help me on this wood texture?
thanks %|
Update
This is so old stuff a lot of recent user wont remember it.
I’m back on this. Now that 4 version of blender have passed, I cannot wait for ever. Originaly I was waiting for raytrace to get you (2.32!!!) then I was waiting for Better UV support to uv map my beveled box correctly.
Well I just dropped the projet. It was on my hd, waiting to pop up ( now that i have the 3 boxes!) I gonna close it.
So what’s new.
-Update the links. So old i changed Isp two time since the begining.
-Messed with LSCM on the beveled box. a true pain.
-did some bump map, some reflect map and more(if only i could uv map it.
So I’m now stuck with a uv problem here. I don’t know where to pin!
there i cut my box to get a plane unwarp. But the beveled corner is messed up.
