Since FutureHack and Hype have been doing such a good job with the Westside local user group I have gone back to mentoring other regions of SoCal by either starting back up a group or teaming up with other groups of new and experienced blender users. I have also started up larger regional events again.
If anybody wants to work on starting up or growing existing groups then PM me and I’ll let you know if there is an existing group in your area or if we need to start up a new one. It is really making a difference when there’s not a long drive to get to a user meeting.
You can also post here in this thread the area where you want a group and I’ll PM you.

BTW, some random person took out our TV City meeting location of Du Par’s by trying to drive a car through it. OOPSIE! Lol, good thing nobody got hurt. Don’t you love SoCal?!
So if you know a good meeting location in the TV City area please let us know since we meet there on a regular basis.

This is a great idea–just chiming in–as long as it’s in The Valley somewhere! 
And not in Hollywood.
Let’s make it in North Hollywood–on Magnolia. Fat Dog? The Federal?

Startibartfast - when I was running multiple groups we were meeting in Studio City at places off of Ventura Blvd. That seemed to be central “Valley” friendly for peeps so we had some good turnouts.
Do you like weekdays or weekends best? Our Westside group does Saturdays so I’m thinking a weekday group might work…

My weeks are pretty full. Weekends are better for me. Studio City is great!
Hey, Blender powers to be have not given out free SIGGRAPH expo discount codes for some reason this year. Maybe it’s because they said they have a small booth? IIRC a single size booth doesn’t come with free codes.
Anyhowes, Iza gotz codes! DM me if you want a free expo only pass to SIGGRAPH. Peeps I know from the group get first access. Others in SoCal that will actually go get second…they will be used up fast!

KK, I’ll keep you posted on weekend stuff. Weekday is first priority though then weekend second. I got some special events though for the weekend.
Our Burbank contacts are getting more and more prominent in the group so Pasadena, Burbank and then the Valley are our priority. As well as Fullerton, OC and San Diego again just so you know. I have some Culver City special events also in the works as well as The Grove/TV City/Fairfax area…
The Pasadena Local LA.blend group will soon start having local blender/Fracture Modifier/appleseed/Inkscape and Krita focused meetings on open source DCC.
For the past couple years we have been taking LA.blend Eastside people and topics to other local groups to nurture open collaboration among like minds and interests. We have reached a watershed moment where those groups are wanting to support a DCC focused group.
If we haven’t talked to you already and have your email please PM me your contact info if you live or work in the Pasadena region. We have substantial traction among many local organizations and groups and would like to offer peeps that watch this thread and support LA.blend meetings some opportunities to have input before we make public announcements and form a DCC group.

Well today it finally will in VR!
@JTa and I have setup a viewing party room in virtual reality to gather together interactively in real-time and watch the beginning session and ending session of WBMD.
