Lower Strength of Keyframes/action

So if I have say a cube moving up and down. I make an action and open up nonlinear animation.

Is there a way to lower the strength of that strip?

As in the cube would not be moving up and down as much by lowering the intensity of the strip?

I played around with the influence slider in the nonlinear animation panel and it did not seem to do anything.

Thanks,
Alex

My inexpert opinion leads me to think that would be more appropriate in the F-curve editor than the NLA editor as the NLA in my opinion is more about mixing multiple actions and repeating them. Furthermore I would say that its not the intensity of the value but the value itself that you are changing. If you just want an effect you can play with the n panel > strip > blend in/out control.
