Lucid Dreaming Arena

For anyone who isn’t familiar with lucid dreaming, the practice or the possibilities, go here: www.dreamviews.com and make sure to thank me after you’ve begun studying it. 8)
But anyway, this is an arena I was fighting in while dreaming one night, and I decided to model it, and incubate it into more dreams as a place to practice my control while in the lucid state. Its still not finished, but as a Blender novice, I don’t think it’s turning out too bad.

And here it is with the first humanoid figure I’ve ever modelled. Hmm, but with the metalic material…could he be the resident sparring dummy? lol

The modeling is not bad for a start. but the link to the website is far more intriging.

And i thank you for showing something i did not know was possible.

This is freaking me out [!]

Hehe. Thanks.

And you think it’s freaky now? Wait till your first lucid dream. 8)

Hehe. Its something that defenitely caught my curiosity…That must be the first time i would be exited to go to bed…hum sleep cause that sounded wrong lol.

recalling your dreams must be the best way for inspiration…

It is. I was beginning to have trouble finding inspiration before I started studying lucid dreaming. Now I’ve got enough material in my dream journal to keep creating scenes just off of things I’ve experienced while dreaming. Lol.

Yea, i am defenitely going to try this. Some might say that it is impossible but the article there gave examples on which i could relate too. I know it is possible and i will try to achieve it. I can only imagine what it must be like. but this talk is more suited for the lucidity website forums:P

On the other hand the scene seems right out of a videogame so you could work on better textures and maybe details (not necerily those in your dreams but build upon it)

I’m James
awesome. I learned about lucid dreaming years ago, but kind of got lazy and frustrated only having become minimally lucid a few times.
i think you’ve inspired me to give it another go
check out the out-of-print book “lucid dreamer” by malcomb
and the “lucidity institute” website

I too have been wanting to render my dreams, record them in a more complete medium

hehe, this is something I did without realising it for years, but have gotten back into in the past year, after another thread about it here.

Whats up? Thanks for the replies. Glad I was about to rekindle your interests in lucid dreaming. You might wanna join the forum on www.dreamviews.com Lot of good people there who offer great tips on techniques and experiments.
I’ve gotten “exploring the world of lucid dreaming” by LeBerge, and that just may be the only LD book I’ll ever need. lol. But I may check out the others also, so thanks for the recommendations.
To anyone who may end up going to dreamviews, I have the same name: Oneironaut, in case you wanna look me up.
To the mods: Sorry this was off topic. Just wanted to get the reply in.

Oneironaut: That render does look lucid dream like!

I did experiment with lucid dreaming about 10 years ago while at uni, kinda lost interest since.

However I’ll be sure to look up that forum (and perhaps re-read the lucid dreaming books you mentioned!)

cheers

Brian

Just a few more shots of the arena.

Here is one of the many ways you might reach it. I plan on making a dock that lines the bottom of the arena, but I just haven’t modelled it yet.

I’m also thinking of showing maybe the scales and dorsal fin of some kind of sea creature in the water. Nothing that stands out Too much, but just a subtle hint that something is there, because I’ve noticed that many Large and intimidating creatures dwell in the vast waters of my dreams.

Question: Can anyone help me out with how to get the lights from inside the arena to not show through the walls like that?

You will need too switch on shadows for that. I kind of like the way it reflects in the water though.
I have noticed some texture stretching with the large grid thing on the floor, you may want to correct this. It’s most noticeable at the corners.

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, I’m going to keep the bottom as a translucent sort of glass because I like the way it shines on the water too, but I don’t want the light to show through the metallic walls. I’m going to have to check out the texture on the floor when I get home to see about the stretching, though. Thanks for the heads up.
But as far as the lighting, would it be possible for me to make it so the outer walls of the arena hold in the light, but it shines through the bottom on the water?
I was thinking of putting the spotlights and the bottom of the arena on the same layer, and leaving the outer walls on a different layer, but then the spotlights wouldn’t cast on the Inside of the arena, would they?
I’d also like it to where the little red light bulbs over the doorway don’t show from the outside at all.

Any ideas of how to get around this?
