LuxBlend25 in Blender 2.54

I am having problems installing LuxBlend 2.5 on Blender 2.54. I am running Blender on my MAC OSX 10.5.8. I followed the install directions on http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/index.php?title=Blender25_Exporter and when I go into the addons menu and try to enable luxblend nothing happens. No check mark appears and luxblend doesn’t appear as an optional rendering engine. This is really bugging me because I thought that the LuxBlend exporter was suppoused to work in Blender 2.54.
If anyone could help me fix this I would appreciate it.

Edit: I installed the Exporter Framework in the 2.54/scripts/modules folder, and Luxblend25 in the 2.54/scripts/addons folder.

Edit: I fixed the problem by placing the luxblend.py script inside of the luxrender folder in 2.54/scripts/addons. Now I can render with luxrender but I can’t find the path to the Luxrender installation. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,

You installed both LuxBlend25 itself AND the Exporter Framework, right? The EF is an entirely separate, but mandatory piece. I’ve seen several people with this issue who forgot to install it.

Hiya,

Follow this:

http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/index.php?title=LuxBlend_2.5_installation_instructions

You have the Exporter Framework from:

https://bitbucket.org/doughammond/exporterframework/downloads

Just click on the zip, gz, bz2 link under Tags & snapshots / download.

As you said pop this in under the \2.54\scripts\modules folder which is inside the Blender 2.5 folder. So you end up with:

\2.54\scripts\modules\ef

Then go get the Luxblend25 “plug” here:

http://src.luxrender.net/luxblend25

Up top left UNDER and right of SUMMARY again click the zip or gz link. You get a file like:

luxblend25-3446066d9f79.zip

Unzip this. Inside are 3 folders. Its the SRC folder you are concerned with. Inside the SRC Folder is a folder called LUXRENDER. ( this IS NOT the actual Luxrender app, its still the plug ) Its THIS folder you want to put into \2.54\scripts\addons. You should end up with:

\2.54\scripts\addons\luxrender

If you have done all this correctly - when you launch Blender AND select Luxrender instead of Blender render as your renderer ( up top / mid, its a drop down box ) you should see the Luxrender settings over right under the Render Properties Panels.

I am also assuming you have SEPARATELY got the LUXRENDER App itself from here:

http://www.luxrender.net/v/dl_windows ( assuming you are using windows, mac and linux pages there also )

Download that install app. I installed this into c:\luxrender

Go back to your Render Properties over right in Blender. Under the LUXRENDER ENGINE CONFIGURATION enable “Run Renderer”. In the “Path to Luxrender Installation” add the path where you installed luxrender. In my case it was c:\luxrender.

Thats it, now you should be tickity boo and all up and running!

You can also put the Luxrender folder inside the Luxblend25 download in the IO folder as well, it will give you the option to render in Lux without even having to enable it in addons.
