LuxCoreRender v2.5

it states:

error: optixDenoiserPugnin used while Optix is not available

I just installed the new 7.1 software

Blender crashes now when rendering with optix.

I have two gtx 1070Ti installed

It looks like Optix is not detected in your installation. Optix v7.1 runtime is included in v451+ NVIDIA drivers (have you installed Optix SDK instead ?).

Do you have any other working software using Optix on that installation (to check if Optix is there or not) ?

LuxCore uses Optix/RTX only on RTX GPUs because, in all our tests, our BVH code was faster than Optix/RTX software emulation (i.e. programmed obsolescence ?).

Optix/Denoiser is available instead for any supported GPU by Optix (however it is a lot faster on GPUs with tensor cores).

Blender and optix works well on the gtx cards

cekuhnen, which Nvidia driver are you using? Thanks

Hi, as @Dade mention, OptiX is included in the driver since 451+, you don´t need the SDK.
But it shouldn’t hurt either to have it installed, hm.

Cheers, mib

Ah interesting - wasn’t aware of that. I removed the 7.0 and 7.1 SDKs.

Optix in Blender with Cycles runs much faster now.

In LuxCore I get this error now:

thanks it is really encouraging !

I have the feeling you have the kernel cache filled with PTX compiled with one driver version and now you are running a different driver version (apparently not compatible with the previous one).

Try to delete the kernel cache, it should be a directory like: C:\Users<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp\luxcorerender.org

yeah that helped.

something interesting is happening now. My macPro shuts off.

I assume both GTX 1070Ti draw to much power. Happens with Cylces too.

Ah well they are old machines.

Our lab has PCs with Quardo RTX 4000 cards and Optix is stated as not present for viewport denoising.

In the LuxCore Preferences I can only select CPU for film device.

Any idea why?

That is very strange, it is like you don’t have CUDA available at all. Is the Quadro listed in the “Devices” panel, if you select GPU rendering ?

Have you installed the latest drivers there too ?

looks like IT installed an older driver 442.05 !

Is there anyway that LuxCore gets a material-preview like Cycles? This one big thing i miss
in LuxCore for tweaking materials.
