LuxRender interactive scene editing

Hi!!

I´m making some experimentation using LuxRender and Blender, trying to do some interactive scene editing like in this video:

I´m using the latest build which implements LuxVR instead of SmallLuxGPU, all I can do with LuxVR is realtime navigation, I can´t get feedbak of the scene changes in realtime. The viewport rendered mode is giving me a sluggish interaction.

I´m using 3 Radeon videocards. Final renders are ok but I can´t get good inteactivity.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Greetings!

For Luxrender, the best place for support is on their forum:

http://www.luxrender.net/forum/

I only use Luxrender in Internal mode ( Luxcore API PathOpenCL ).

Also be sure that gpus are set for render path ( and viewport )

Moved from “General Forums > Blender and CG Discussions” to “Support > Other Software”

Thanks Lane! yes, I was trying to enter to the Lux forum but I have problems with my account login. Some kind of incomplete registration+forgotten password combo.

I have some improvements using the refresh rate in the camera settings (display/update intervales -sec./ms.-) though I can´t have as good feedback as with using Cycles.

Im using the gpus in the ocl device selection, and workloads are ok. You mean luxcore experimental api right? Are you having good interactivity and final results using Lux?

For final render, yes ofc, i absolutely love Luxrender engine, it is extremely accurate.

Now for “interactivity” in the viewport, its not as smooth or fast as Cycles. as Luxrender is not “implemented” directly in Blender and the engine is quite different and more intensive. ( materials, lights etc ) you will not get the viewport ( rendered view) as fast as with Cycles.

In general i use it only for “preview” what i have done (materials, light /HDRi setup, camera, DOF etc ) and switch back to “normal view” for work… Its a different workflow to have.

Thats something they are working on, but this things take time.

Have you try to look on your spam box if the message for register on Luxrender or try maybe register again ( maybe with different email. )

Thanks againg Lane, it is good to know about your experience. Yes, I already have a new account and have started a thread there today. I hope they can improve the viewport feedbak in the future.
