LuxRender, LuxRays & Blender 2.53 Beta

Hey guys,

Just wondering, has anyone actually managed to get this working on Windows 7 (32-bit, or 64-bit) I’ve been looking around and trying some of the things suggesting but I’ve had no luck.

Just wondering that is all.

it’s alpha software mostly for developers and people used to compilers wanting to help with testing and bug reporting. That’s not the typical profile of people using Windows…

Hi Daniel8488, first you have to download the latest luxrays:
http://www.luxrender.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=4277&sid=3026006eed0f53f3fbf40de8d5854772

SLG v1.6beta2 (The 130,000,000 release !)
Then the 64 bit executable, same page.

Try first to run the exe alone, to make shure all is ok with drivers and so forth.
You should see the material ball:

For the blender exporter, the exporter must match with your blender version, before or after Rev. 31500

Take a look at graphicall.org

mib2berlin: Thank you, it seems I over looked the development area.

I have it up and running now, much appreciated

LuxRay LuxRender? Huh

Ok I thought you just need SLG and the exporter?

That’s right, but I was just speed reading through all of the info I could find trying to find the download links. It’s a bad habit =/

anybody was able to get the live mode working?

I did everything

selected export as instance per for each object
set the accelerator mode for instance right
set telnet

but nothing works.

I haven’t managed it yet either, I often get errors, or the CLI say’s the rendering has been sent a stop signal.

Still though, I’m impressed with what it can do at such an early stage of development.

I’ve just gotten it to work.

I clicked the little image/ camera symbol along the viewport header, then clicked the live edit and it’s working, when I move the camera in Blender it moves in the renderer window.

This is awesome

It is pretty sweet. I’ve not tried it out on anything really fancy yet. Do you think you could use this for animation?

I’m not sure, It has a toggle for batch mode which say’s ‘Renders in background (for animation)’ So I’m guessing it’s possible at the moment, I’m going to try it out on a complex scene with some textures, if it can support textures, and some basic animation then I’d say it could handle a simple animation. Just watch out for the occasional bug etcetera.

Maybe a mod should move this to other software, or something along those lines since I’m about to post a test image.

First test, I’m pretty pleased with it. There are still a lot of bugs, espeically when it comes to changing materials, and there are quite a lot of GUI elements which work in Blender, but don’t actually do anything in the renderer viewport.

BTW
you can also download filiciss builds which come with SLG anyway

argh it did not accure to me that I need to start the Live view in the view port.

lol - man this thing is amazing! Very impressive.

Usability wise this is like VRay RT crazy …

Does anyone have step by step directions I looked for them but I can’t see how to install the SLG and Exporter for Windows 64bit and linux 64bit?

I am confused completely where to copy what file. I even removed and reinstalled everything.

Hello

As elephantatech, i am confused how step by step install luxray. I have copied folder in “scripts” but no addons appears in blender in user preferences render. (http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/index.php?title=LuxBlend_2.5_installation_instructions)

The path i copy:
C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.54\python\scripts\addons\luxrender
C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.54\python\scripts\modules\ef

And where is the build on graphicall, i didn’t find it

Thank you very much for helping !
