Hi, I’ve noticed LWO export (and actually other exports like OBJ) replaces quads it doesn’t like (I’m guessing past some non-planar threshold) with triangles, this is really horrible behaviour when you bring the object into LW Modeler. Is there any way of turning off this behaviour ? Thanks.
Edit: Would Appreciate no clever answers about ‘dude don’t build u model with non-planar polys’ etc thanks a lot
nothing clever ;)… but I see no reason why this would happen. (from the obj export at least. can you contrive a simple example- cube with coplaner face) and reproduce the problem?
Are you sure the quads arnt somehow fgons. try FKey clear fgons.
Hi, just to follow up on this, thanks for the reply ideasman42, it’s not export that is the problem I have realized, it is import. I should have said I imported an LWO then tried to export it again later when I noticed this, so yes geometry created in fresh Blender and then exported doesn’t do this. When LWOs are imported, highly non-planar quads seem to be getting automatically converted to triangles by Blender, which is a behaviour that is still strongly undesirable in my view and makes intergretation with Blender and other apps a problem. I don’t think there is anyway of turning this behaviour off, there are no ‘import options’ that I can see for example.
