well i havent posted anything in a while but i have not had anything to do today.

It looks very nice so far. I’m not too familiar with guns, but I think a trigger would be nice.

You could make a really cool cartoony gun with that model. Did you use boolean for those holes?
i used curves and converted it to mesh. that is how i got the holes…
i put the trigger in…
i am not going to texture it just yet because i cant texture very good any thing i texture looks too cartoonish for me. but i wll continue to model it.

My problems that I am seeing is that it does not look much like an m-16, but rather an ar-15. The AR and the M have a very similar look to one an other, and infact they both fire the same rounds (.223 / 5.56 NATO). Currently the AR is the US Army’s weapon of choice. But we Marine boys still us the M-16A2.
The forgrip on your gun looks very similar to the ones on the M-16A2 (but not the plain M-16 – It just had a smooth handle), the AR-15, and the M4 (Once again another similar gun, but we wont go there…).
The biggest problem that i have with your gun, in order for it to be an M-16, is the Collapsible stock that you have mounted on it. Out of the years that i spent in the Corps i have never once seen an M-16 with one…
If you are using reference pics, be careful who you are getting the pics from, because i was just taking a quick look around for you, and i’m discovering a lot of counter-strike players out there that think they know it all about these guns, and they are posting pics of M-16/M4’s and calling them CAR-15’s, and viceversa. Also be careful because there are several companys that actually make AR-15s, and some of them look completely different from the others. Best thing to do is get the pics directly from a military website to see what the offical equipment looks like.
Trust me, I think your model is looking great, just wanna make sure you are naming it the right thing, and getting the right reference pics.

Were you in the military? If so what Branch?
Yes, I was an enlisted member of the US Marine Corps. Was in for 2 years, going on my third, when Navy Medical (Who i now have a HUGE problem with.) decided that it was nessecary for me to receive a medical discharge.
And so now, I am back in college working on my degree, and just recently found out that it may be possible for me to return to the Corps after graduation to apply for officer training (With a deal from the ROTC). I havnt decided if i want to travel this road, yet.
My MOS was held within the Marine Corps Aviation department, and right before my discharge I was finishing up my training for being Flight Navigator aboard the AH-1 Cobra. Well, when i say finishing up my training, i mean the MAJOR training – Anyone within the military never stops training, you should know that (Airforce, right?).
Ah well, I got to be stationed in Hawaii for two years, and live some of my life dreams while there. So I suppose i cant complain too much… Just wish i could have atleast served 4 years, and recieved my Honorable. And of course i still have a lot of pride in the military, and i would recimend it to just about anyone – Any branch.

i downloaded yafray and installed it but it doesnt work when i open it. and i dont know how to use it…
