MAC OSX _ Blender SVN + Mitsuba

Ok here is blender 2.5.5 build from today, and also mitsuba build. 64bits for Mac OSX.

http://www.medborgarplatsen.com/apps

wops some clarify.

blender 2.5.5 is a blender build from todays trunk. (if you have newer blender use your own. with my blender build I include mitsuba addon and also luxrender i think.)

mitsuba contains

  • mitsuba renderer 64bit
  • mitsuba addon

if you have your own blender app, just download the mitsuba.zip.

i) open blender
ii) get user prefs (apple+,)
iii) go to addon tab
iv) click install addon, and point to the “mitsuba” folder you just unzipped

then in blender enable the mitsuba addon, and chose mitsuba as render engine. now you have to point to the binary in the Executable path: input.

(remember to always uncheck “relative” and use static path)
when I point to Mitsuba.app I can sometimes see material previews.
when I point to Mitsuba.app/Contents/MacOS/mitsuba - i don’t but then it finds mtsimport but the export from blender -> mitsuba gets broken.

we’ll have to wait until Jakob or someone have had a look at this.

Thanks for this!

Sorry for my ignorance but I assume the Blender/Mitsuba download goes into the scripts/io folder of Blender 2.55, is this right? Or do I try to add the contents of the folder structure to the existing Scripts menu?

I just noticed the weird thing with mitsuba.zip , im packing it again and uploading atm.

I separated blender and mitsuba if you have your own build of blender and just want to get a newer mitsuba renderer and the addon for integration with blender.

when I get it to work 100% i could do a bundle. but me myself hate to have 10 diffrent blenders, i tend to stay as close as svn version i can.

I was looking for YOU  It’s easy to fall in love with you. Thanks man!

Hm, I downloaded blender, mitsuba and when I wanted to activate addon in user pref. it does nothing.
I also tried download last 64 and 32 bits version to instal addon inside package, but with the same result.
I will try to install addon on some older, but do you have some recommends? Thanks for help.
Other renderers are can activate.

Open under OS X 10.5.8 (Intel Core2Duo)

hello! I am easy lovable person!.

Sorry it seems like my build is only for 10.6.5 Snow Leopard (64bit only) and same with my blender builds, are also 64bits 10.6.5 only.

you’ll have to download the build from mitsuba-renderer.org 32bit / 64bit universal.
and install the addon manually.

my builds has luxrender and mitsuba addon already installed. you only need to activate it in the addon user preference settings.
there’s currently a blender addon bug with some addons if you activate it , and deactivate it you cant click the checkbox anymore. you have to restart blender.

So for everyone else my builds are NOT universal. they are 64bit 100% only, 10.6.5

Ha !!!
My mistake - I renamed “mitsuba” folder like other to “render_mitsuba” to keep system of naming.
That was the error!!!
I named it back to “mitsuba” now its activated. Sorry. I’m going see this miracle

Anyway, I’m not able to open your build under 10.6.5 too.
And for those who are not sure if their mac is 32 or 64 bit like me:

vklidu

then you must have a 32bit cpu or something I have Snow Leopard and a Core2Duo iMac 3ghz when I build.

yes haha;D I actually renamed render_luxrender also for naming but had to change in 40 places the namspace for “from x import” …

the authors should rename it though to render_name to be consistent with addon naming.

I don’t want to argue  It doesn’t matter in this time, just other 64 builds from graphicall are OK . . . have a nice day

So, material preview works, export doesn’t :frowning:

Hi aermartin,

The link up there doesn’t show up to be functional (not found page). Have you another link to download and try out your special meal from?

Hey guys sorry, I’m having some problems building mitsuba (lately) it says.

Checking for g++ …no
Could not compile a simple C++ fragment, verify that g++ is installed! This could also mean that the Boost libraries are missing. The file “config.log” should contain more information.

and I have no idea what’s happening, Im building c++ files all the time, and I’m pretty sure I have the boost libs… as soon as I can get some builds up and running I’ll host them somewhere they’ll not dissapear from.
