make human 0.9 script (update)

Hi, quick update, whilst this script is semi functional and good for some basic tasks,
the information I have received is that >
/export is planned in collada format for mh. (as well as .obj)
/manuel is working on mhlib.py which will port mh to blender (70% done)!
/the next release of mh will void any need for this script.
/ the target format is being changed slightly and the emotions engine is being highly optomized to include working on modified meshes.

any work done to further the mod script would only double up the work already being done at mh with regard to intergration/ import/export/ blender.
so this is great news to look forward to the next release of MH.

to quote Manuel >

A improved version of MH0.8 script (without icons, very complex/strange
GUI, etc…) is planned.
I’ve rewritten (70%) almost from scratch a module called MHlib.py that
include all functions needed
It would be better to help with this than to have a less quality scripts and double up on Manuel’s hard work.
Thanks must be to the mh team for their continued support of blender!!! we are very lucky to soon have our own poser style engine!

The mod script below does have it’s uses as a fun tool but it’s useful lifespan will be short

Hi all, found a script in the make human forum that does stuff with the new make Human!
here’s the info:

A Way for Blender Import?

hi,

at first, a big sorry for my bad english, it´s not my native language, and a very big thanks to you guys, for creating hakehuman!

i think (hope) that i have found a way for a blender import. this way is to modify the mh 180b script!

i have import the mh0.9 mesh into the mh180b script. and i can use the “moddeling”-targets with this sript in blender. for example i have made a zip file, with this you can use the mees-targets in blender (i think, the other “moddeling”-targets must be enabled in an export script).

i have also testet the pose-targets, but they only create scary deformations :frowning:

if somebody can modify the script, so that the pose-targets work with it, and rewrite the bodysetting-import in this good old script, so that it works with the new bodysettings, it can be the best way for an import of make-human humanoids to blender.

to my shame i must say, that i can´t write a single line of python, so i can´t do it self :frowning:

i think, if it work, it will be a grate think, to “moddel” humanoids in makehuman and pose/mimik them in blender. it would make it possible, to create great animations with makehuman humanoids.

(this file is hostet by an file-upload service, sorry but i have no own webspace at this time)

Tarabaz
Someone (script author) should really give Tarabaz a hand with this.
I tested his mod and it works well but has lots of room for greatness.
The new script has facial settings and emotions and a few other settings.
Very good work!
Thanks M.A.

here’s a screenshot of the script in action using the emotions engine.

No spectacular in the first 3 images, just different Emotions.
The last image is sculpted of course.

Only the base mesh was loaded, the script works just like the original.
It uses 0.9 targets and runs from within Blender.
The script still needs some work but it could be possible to transform this into a Import script for all MH functions, rigs may also be possible.
It does need some work done to improve/add functions.

Thanks, M.A.

Hi

What is wrong with exporting to .obj from Makehuman? I am doing it all the time without problems. If this script is really going to allowing animation functionality then I am all for it and full speed ahead!

Koba

hi Koba, I am unsure what the future of this script is, it does work quite well, I suppose the point of this is that you don’t have to export/import an .obj as the mesh is created in blender. So the more settings that the script can import from mh the easier the workflow.
Also being able to edit the settings from within blender saves going to and fro if something is not to liking.
One possible end result is there could be an inbuilt version of mh in blender.
Also if the functions to import hair/poses/body settings/rotations directly from mh come to be,there would be no need to import .obj from mh at all.
Further than that blender could have it’s own built in Poser style engine.
I don’t see the script replacing Make Human, the script is a version of mh, but it could give very close intergration.
For now it is just a novelty sort of, I have tried to contact Manuel to get his opinion and advice on what direction if any he would like to see this take.
I have long used the original mh scripts and i think the new program 0.9 is great.
MH started it’s life as a plugin for Blender, with this script, the best of both worlds could be acheived.
Thanks. M.A.

i can’t get the script to work. i have python, i have blender, and i have the makehuman program. it says it cant find the base mesh. i would like help.

Actually its included in the file when u downloaded it (MH 0.9 script)…just open test blend file (included)… fire the script when it look for the base mesh…just click it and direct it the MH folder u can find the base mesh file there…

Thanks,
That is right, also everything currently availiable (base mesh & stuff) is included in the zip file.

Does anyone have an opinion on the uses/usefullness of this script?
Setting face shape/emotion keys, quick and easy humans from within blender?
Should this be worked on more?
Honest, fair opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, M.A.

The development of this scrip is very important to me, bug I would prefer import the mesh automatically rigged, even If I must to do the other morphs in the makehuman. I am student of Industrial Design, so I have to make many posers with the furniture or objects, so I have the person and the object in Blender, and I should be capable of change the posture of the person inside Blender. When I could do this I will be capable of kick the program Poser from my computer (well I would do that definitely when makehuman suport clothes, but I don’t use clothes to much)

Otomo > There will eventually be a way to export rigs/rigged charactors from Make Human then import them into Blender without this script, however it hopefully will be possible to do this also with this script, helping workflow.
MH team is currently working in this so this could be done even without this script.
Not to say 0.9 mod script does not have potential to acheive this.

With the soon/ish to be done macro recording in blender, auto rigging options could be as simple as recording a rig set up for a mh mesh and applying these settings (run the macro)
on any imported base charactor for posing in blender. Don’t hang up poser just yet, but hopefully soon.
I have asked for official permissions to develop the script further as an extra mh feature for blender users.
Thanks for the reply. M.A.

Thank you very much for contributing to this great community.
