Make the selected faces to have a little bumpy surface

Hey, I have another question and in searching favour iI created a new thread with according title.

So, on my object I have selected the faces that I want to be a little bumpy or how should I say, to have a little “terrain”, like on virus’es surface. How could I do that?

You can model it; subdivide the area and form faces to make a terrain. Or, use normal texture.

Thank you

This way, is it possible to get the effect as seen on picture?

To get the fine details of the pic you shown, a normal map will do it for you!

Ya create simple geometry, smooth it, Subsurf it, than here I just added cloud texture in normal channel. One thing I tried different in my render was to use SSS. Which is what you get in real deal. The image you posted has some type of Fresnel shader on it.

Great this is what i’ve been searching for. Thanks for help on details!

you could also add a small nor stucci or voronoi texture to get some effect on curved surfaces!

experiment a little with theses!

you can also go to the mat repository to see what is available as mat + Text
