This Alpha 1 release provides the 1st formal testing release for the functionality that has been implemented to date. This is not a full-function release and, most notably, does not provide functionality to allow the figure to be posed. It does include examples of all of the different tools and techniques that this software will provide to enable you to easily model the anatomy of a human figure, although some of these functions are not yet complete and are not necessarily in their final form.
Take a look:
This release also provides the 3D graphics community and the developer community with a preview of the functions that this human modelling application will provide. This is an Open Source project and it is hoped that artists and developers will be inspired to join in and help accelerate the completion of this innovative application. We are particularly keen to hear from additional talented Blender artists willing and able to help us deliver a more extensive set of authentic ethnic models. Good Python skills are always in demand to enhance the functionality.

Important
The Windows version needs the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package, because MH is compiled with python 2.6. Without these libs, the app can crash at startup.
Ciao Manuel,
complimenti per l’ottimo lavoro: MH sta crescendo di release in release.
Vorrei chiederti se c’è qualche possibilità di una build per MacOsX PPC, perché ho provato a scaricare il codice sorgente ma non sono stato capace di compilarlo.
Grazie, ciao.
Hi Manuel,
I’m excited to see MH is getting better and better with every release.
I would know if there is any chance to see a MacOsX PPC build (I’ve tried building the sources with no success).
Thank you.
I like the way you can add age, sex and tone locally rather than over the whole model!
Are you planning on doing more base models? I.E a stylized base model, a medically correct base model, skeleton base model, medical organ/muscle base model?
I only ask as it would be cool and add a lot to the app maybe a MakeHumaniod program and a MakeQuadruped program?
I posted a link to this thread on CGTalk: Link because i think this is a really cool program with loads of potential, and is so much more professional than poser, even if it is not on the same level YET!
Yes, congratulations guys, that’s a cool software indeed!
But anyway, there are some issues…
I just compile it from svn on 64bit Linux; make install an old version (0.9.1 RC1) in /usr/local/bin/makehuman, while is the latest version 1.0 alpha1 in …makehuman/trunk/mh_phoenix/makehuman?! Of course, it should install the latest version in …/bin. So, this should be fixed.
GUI is now different, with some cool new features. But why I can’t use it on a full screen anymore?! Also, a new way of selecting and manipulating with the same LMB is a bit clumsy…& reset button doesn’t reset all previously manipulated stuff it seems… So, I’m not sure if I like this new GUI more than a previous one…
Anyhow, all in all, good & useful software! It’s still Alpha after all, right!?
Well, a makeAnime plugin will be included in MH1.0 alpha2, very soon, while
makeToon, makeMyth, and others are planned later.
We want to add much more features (in example, right now we are working on a facial reconstruction from photo, that should be ready for the end of the summer), but they require a lot of modelling time. So I hope Blender community will help us, making targets:
It’s an SDL issue. We are waiting an official fix from SDLteam.
! Also, a new way of selecting and manipulating with the same LMB is a bit clumsy…
Yes. We have notice of this. It will be fixed in alpha2.
reset button doesn’t reset all previously manipulated stuff it seems…
Yes…it’s a bug. It does not reset the ethnic features.
So, I’m not sure if I like this new GUI more than a previous one…

Yes…
The previous one (0.9 series) was certainly bad for a reason: the inifinite icons catalogue. It was very hard to find the targets in the sea of targets library. Now we have fixed it, but of course, we have a lot of work to do before have the 1.0 final. Take a look:
wow, great job, the interface has been improved A LOT, congratulations, now you are on the right way, as a suggestions I will ask for a major speed/performance and the mouse pointer try to make it smaller and simple, needs a little bit more of tweaks to make the interface look more professional but defitnetly has been improved.
Ehm…over 580 reads and no one has notice of this part?

Manuel:
to make the ethnic types of MakeHuman go ahead, imho, you should create a team of detail modelers, and make the work split in several earth zones. And some documentation on different ethnic types should be used as well, just to be sure that the result will be correct. I’ve tried Make Target, it’s ready to be used just from the Blender GUI, so I think the main requisite to help the growth of MH should be a solid naturalistic (antropologic) culture more than Python skills.
I’ve only read a couple of Desmond Morris books. If you think it’s enough tell me which earth zone to cover, and I will try to help.
Yes, this is exactly what I want to do. But to create the artists team we need reliable and skilled artists.

Yes. It was designed for this purpose. The python script can be even ignored: the important thing is send me the modified mesh.

I don’t understand what the purpose of MakeHuman is. If you enjoy CG why would you want someone else to model your character for you? And if you can’t be bothered to model you’re own character then you probably don’t like CG to begin with which means you wouldn’t want to use makeHuman in the first place.
can someone explain a little how to transfert the model to blender
i mena i saw some doc for different renderer but nothing for blender
how do you ave this and then upload it to blender?
i began playing with it and i can see that
the sensitivity to cursor chaing location is very high
you move by only a few pixel and it changes very fast
is there a way to reduced or adjust this sensitivity ?
also i cannot get full screen right now is this normal ?
I like the results MakeHuman gives. My time and modelling skills are limited, so it helps a lot if there is a program to speed up the whole prosess some hundreds of times compared to manual modelling. This kind of program means a intelligence factor too, its like understanding the mathematical functions instead of learning the points at the slope of a function.
