Making a airplane with "real" thrust

Hi guys,

I would like to make a flyable quad tiltrotor plane in the game engine.
(like this
)

How can I make 4 individual engines that produce thrust and parent them to the wings and fuselage? I want to achieve a full “3D” flight
and not just some leaning left/right animation

I hope you understand what I mean

Thank you very much!http://misc.cgcookie.netdna-cdn.com//pencil.png

you would have to use python but KX_GameObject.applyImpulse(point, impulse) is what you are looking for.

Hi

I think Redweasel is looking a solution, where four individual forces & torques are summed to together and quad tiltrotor plane will act correspondingly.

I would like to know this as well.

Thanks Manti, I will have a look at this. My python knowledge is like zero, but I guess I have to start at some point.

I don’t think I need engine torque in this case because the props are counter-rotating. But it would be also good to know for some single engine aircraft

You’ll need it when an engine gets shot to bits :smiley:

oh yeah, forgot about that, and Im not sure but it could be also used for some yaw motion.
Unfortunately I still can’t figure it out : /

Do not be disheartened if you can’t figure it out as easily as you thought you could. When you try to create something it usually involves a lot of trial and error.
You will most likely need python to get this to work correctly.
