Making a clean line with Circle select?

In edit mode when you press ‘C’ for circle select then drag across the mesh it makes a line like this…

Is there any way to automatically clean that up so it becomes one clean connected line like this?

Use the normal select with ctrl+click a few times, it selects a path.
