making a new texture image in UV editor

when adding a new image it appears black bottom
and where applied to a mat as a texture this black will also appear as black on the mat
plus other brush color added

is there a way to make it white or may be transparent instead and how ?

When you create a new image in the image editor you can choose the color and alpha in the dialog box that appears. Click on the black bar, next to the text ‘Color’.
Right after creation you can also change it in ‘Redo Last’ in your Toolbar, or by pressing F6 in the Image Editor.

I tough the black bar was the background and not a color picker!

now i was able to change it to white and add some colors bars
which when reloaded is apploed to a section of my model

and when specifying alpha for this enw image does it make it 1/2 transp
but does it have to be save as tga and not jpg to use this alpha value ?
and what setting are to be set in F5 and F6 to use this alpha value?

but is there a way for instance to assign a material twice to same faces
and on one mat apply a 1/2 transp UV image but also on the second
mat apply a procedural texture but not transparent
like adding 2 textures on same face ?

anybody knows if there a wa to make tis type of mix with same faces assign to 2 mat and textuers
one being a proced texture and the ohter one being a UV tex image with some alpha ?
