making an array of ico spheres follow a curve?

This is quite easy to do and i have done it before, but i simply cannot remeber…ive searched for tutorials and they are either for 2.4x or don’t seem to work.

i have a spiraly curve


and i want an array of icospheres to wrap around that…i have tried making an array and then applying the curve modifier and i have also tried the fit to curve option in the array settings.
