Making an explosion?

How would I make a realistic looking explosion? Im guessing you use halo particles but I can’t figure out a way to make it look good.

:< :< :< Read the manual aren’t there enough people and threads saying so already! here is the page you want: http://download.blender.org/documentation/html/x7193.html

take it easy Jedi dawn.

There are some nice effects files here, check them out

Patience and persistance.

Actually I think that particles would be the right way to go. You can have their color (and possible other) properties change with an IPO curve or something. I have never tried to make realistic fire or explosion, so I can’t give any real advice.

excellent !!!

Another angry long time blender user, mad that someone posts something they have already seen. Please don’t be mad.
I can never get good results from the search tool. How do you use it?

Make sure you select the “Search for all terms” option.

The “trick” of an explosion is that it is composed of an overlap of particles – of different shapes and colors and moving at slightly different speeds. Personally I think that most Hollywood explosions are rather over-engineered…
