Making Pillsbury Doughboy smile?

Hey,
Right now, I’m trying to model the smile for the doughboy. I have an icosphere right now for his head, but I’m not sure how to get the concise outline of his mouth that’s also receced in. I tried dragging vertices with porportional editing, but it looks terrible. Any advice?

Oh and also, how would I rig the smile, so that I can change the shape?

here are perfect fash video tutorials for you. (a good start)

be patient and go throught all the blender head video tutorials

The technique they used to make the smile doesn’t really work…the sphere gets all messed up. So what I’m trying to do is I made the shape of the smile from a curve and then used that to proportionally edit the head (dragging the smile curve into the head, making the impression). How would I rig the smile so that I can change the curve and have it affect the sphere, thus changing the receded in smile?

well if I understand what you have done, in theory you could use hooks attached to your curve, and also attached to your smile. Then just animate the hooks. Or use shape keys and forget the curve (once the basic smile is modeled).

Starting with an icosphere is not a good way to model a face. An UVsphere is better but I would look at a tutorial about modelling faces, for example a better face tutorial
