Anybody give me any tips like texture painting ?
I was watching a cry engine tutorial how they use a 4x4 texture for further
away you go from it and more you get closer it gets very detailed.
How can i do this when i`m painting to a 4096x4096 terrain, the detail is still
low up close
to ease the work at first, you should just apply the main texture of your terrain to the mesh, then bake it into a blank 4k x4k texture. if it kinda looks ok for you, you should then paint more details on the baked texture
I was thinking the more you get closer the more “TEXUTRE” detail appears like tessellation.
E,g If i got a terrain big as 6 football pitches in 4k x 4k and i put in fine detail like small
rocks, leafs etc, it would come out very blurry.
My only work around is to make sections for each pitch in 4k x 4k
Is there any other way around this or just make a big massive Texture for the whole terrain like
16k x 16k witch would take ages lol.
Sorry for long post, just want to find a better workflow.
You could alternates methods: Use stencil maps and seamless textures! Start with the bottom texture(place on top slot). Than make first stencil for next texture and also all the next textures. Place next texture under that stencil. Make next stencild including the same as previouse one stencil, but earse the parts which you want to use second texture. Place third texture in slot under this stencil. You can repeat this infinitly and gather a detailed texturing of big terrain using textures that ain’t bigger than 4096x4096…
