how do i make water. i want to make a little waterfall type stream on my sword project (which is in the WIP section). how do i come about this? thanks
I would use the fluid simulator. Set up your stream bed with rocks or whatever your putting in it, slap a cube or sphere at the very top of the bed for your water (I would put a little downgrade slope in the bed), and run the simulation. Once you find a good looking frame, just render that one as your final piece. If you need a little more help on fluid sims let me know. They are easy once you get everything set up.
Or if you don’t want to wait for hours you can model the stream.
1). Start with a simple rough sketch of where the water would be
2). Tweak verticies, delete more faces at the bottom of the waterfalls.
3). Add little spheres and put them by the bunches to make splash particles
4). Use particles to add spray.
nfollmer, i tried that, and it didnt really work. it appears somewhere else and it doesn’t do anything
Cyborg Dragon, can you explain that a little bit better?

Krawel: To my knowledge that’s for oceans, not for rivers.
For the rough sketch just make a simple mesh shape that roughly follows the stream path.
ok, i’ll try it. I did do a tutorial on the blenderartists forums, and i add my cude for the “domain” in the “fluid sim” and a shpear for the “inflow”, and its nice, but i try to add a plane for an obstical, and it wont work
Extrude it downward so it has more “stuff” to hit. The sim seems to work better when an obstacle has thickness. And it shouldn’t take hours, something simple like should take about 20 minutes to compute, unless your running a really old system.
i have a new system, actully. a XP media edition.
but if i have more than 2 “things” in blender (other than the shpear), it wont bake, it says something about “you can only have 1 object” or something like that
That’s odd, I know you can’t have more than 2 domains in a scene, but I have had more than 1 liquid source. They just have to be the same type of liquid.
Try making the entire liquid sources the same object.
Like if you have multiple spheres, make them all the same object, not different objects.
Ah, didn’t think of that Cyborg. And your right,(I tested it hehe) I had two different objects as sources and it freaked out.
