Mapping of a booled surface

Isn’t that the principle of the boolean / substractive operation?

What do you want to say with that?

What I try tomorrow is mapping the other boolean on the base surface exactly like the cube on the top surface, cause I think it uses the mapping coordinates of this booled surface from the other boolean object

Sorry, I didn’t even mention that you have a hidden object (cube), well, here you go, I have fixed it.

What I did was:

  1. Unwrapped both cubes by using Smart UV Project;
  2. Fitted the size of UV-islands so that they will fully fit at an image texture;
  3. Had to mark seamed the bottom size of a hidden cube in order to fit it to the left corner of an image texture, separately from the other islands.

Had to mirror UV-island of a Cube, to do this, select your UV-island then hit “S” then “X” and then “-1”

this is in any way nearly the same, but thats no solution for me…

Try to connect mapping and texture coordinate nodes. Maybe it’ll help you, idk.
You can also subdivide your top area of a bottom cube 50 times

I have increased the UV-island’s size of Cube.001, so that now it’ll fits to the size of the same exact off of Cube’s one.

Here’s the result:

hi sergey , how do you know the scaling? what if you cant read it out of the object data like here in this example?

IDK, I did it “on the eye”.

:joy: ok, you are a big cheater…nearly the same is good enough…

I didn’t say that this solution is the only right or the best, that’s why I’ve attached the screeshot above so that you’ll be able to understand how I did this.

you know, this is quite a very very simple situation…what will you do if its much more complicated…“on the eye” is not always possible and no solution of the ground problem for me…

If you will switch from UV → Vector to Generated → Vector in shaders nodes, it’ll solve the problem with adjusting the size, but your other faces of your uv will be looked not so good.

The mapping comes from the area of the Bool cutter object ( in this case the Bottom of CUBE.001 )

where it intersects the object to be cut CUBE… The texture comes from the face that intersects and of course, it has been applied on a Bool surface so it shows up on CUBE as an Inverted Image…

So if you want to change the result you have to edit the UV mapping of the CUBE.001 bottom face.

so if you come out with a 100 percent solution how to adjust this uv exactly like the other you will be my hero

Do you just want the lower cube texture to be just like the upper ?

This was simple…since they are cubes…UV un-wrap using the same METHOD
In this case, since one was using… smart UV I unwrapped both cubes the same just disabled the Boolean temporarily to see faces…
Checked which faces were where and what images…I then moved the displaced face over the face that showed the top of the cube…so it was duplicated on the bottom…and flipped on the x-axis ( again so the “stamped” image wasn’t backward)…

The bottoms are not the same as on the bottom cube still has the piano keys from the original unwrap…but you could do the same thing and copy that UV over the Top UV space and it would be exact…

Here you can see on the top the unbooled box. And the map part that is shown.

I want this box to keep the exact ! mapping, to show exact the same part of the map even after it is booled…

Then you have tp do as I explained but take the Bottom face of the top box and move it over the location of the image from the small box top face ( remember the UVs are the same so locations and texture will be also…)

Everything is controlled by the bottom face of the displaced box…

See, this is what the top face is BEFORE the BOOLEAN…

That is what I understand from your description…

This is also only NEARLY the same… Look on the upper, there is on the right side a white line… This line is not on your picture on the bottom…

Or am I wrong…please don’t try to help me with nearly… manually… on the eye… manipulated solutions…
