So far this is what i have created of my model, and everything looks pretty okay for now. But i have absolutely have no idea how to add the white part of Marill’s body as smoothly as possible without having to texture paint and i really don’t want to have to do that. Is they any way around this?
Create the white Area in the mesh and add a white material.
You need to change Your topology so You have an edgeloop running around the area.
How could i do that without deforming the mesh. Never tried something like that before :’)?
Anyone have any idea how to do this?
With your topology and the amount of polygons you may just want to UV Unrwrap it then make a material for it, it will probably be the easiest way.
meant texture it … thanks for that theAngelRoldan
That is a really DENSE mesh…I think you’re best bet is a texture. I’m not sure if that is what PeteMc is saying. After you UV Unwrap it, you can map a texture to the model that has the white belly. I don’t know about UV Unwrapping as a way to apply materials so maybe PeteMc can explain what his method is.
The only other thing I can think of is using the knife tool since you have such a nice reference image. You should be able to make a good cut around the white area and then assign a white material to the area you make. I’m not so sure it would be very smooth though w/ all that geometry you have there already.
Good luck.
When modeling characters such as these you want to plan ahead as you model, shaping the mesh/topology to accommodate places you want to manually add color. I could explain how to fix this but it might be more trouble than it’s worth.
