And don’t forget to join, too. Mighty fun topic this time!

It reminds me of Iraq vs. America in 3003

Updated::… see above (first post)

Totaly AWESOME!!

If you could animate something like this into a movie I’d be REALLY immpressed.

stunning…, great composition I like your weekend submission very much, for now you got my vote…

A question: Is that rain a blender particle system or just a postprocessing in GIMP/Photoshop ?

Really good!

But, I think your kind of mis-interpreting the challenge.

You see, there’s this TV program called ‘Robot Wars’, at least in the UK. It originated in the US.

Lightning

robot wars started in the UK lol i was a member of the club was about to make my own robot once but i couldent get funded and im too poor to shell out 600 squid for something that would probably be blatted in the first round. ps thanx for mis enterperting the theme it gave me cart blanche to make my mech >:)

Heh heh… Yeah, I know Robot Wars the TV-show. They’ve aired it here in sweden too a couple of times, the brittish version with our beloved Mr Lister hosting it. I just thought that the theme could mean any kind of robot war, that is, a war where robots are involved - so here I am…

Oh well…

Anyway, even though I posted this in “finished projects”, where one is supposed to post FINISHED projects, I’ve made a few more changes. The composition is better, and I’ve tweaked the lights a bit. There are 67 spotlights, one sun and six sphere-pointlights in it now. Add to that about 700.000 polygons. It needs nine minutes to render on my poor old 466 Mhz.

Olaf: The rain is postprocess, but made in the Blender sequence editor, just to keep the entry “pure”. However, I feel that this puritanism is getting a bit old… We should concentrate on making good looking things by any means available rather than being religous about using Blender only… my two euros…

Oh, the update:

If you’re interested in the final, polished version (slightly processed in photoshop, not my official WC entry) it can be found here:

EDIT: Messed up the url:s

man as much as i hate to say it the “puritainism” has a point i cant do diddly in photoshop gimp or anything else cos i dont have time to learn you could post an image made from the same blend file make it look class in photoshop and me just post my own image and you will win cos you have tweaked it. after all this is a blender compatition.

oh and the subject is SUPPOSED to be interpreted i mean we are artists it would be a bit pointless if everyone just did the same thing

Yup. You’re right about that one. In the realms of a particular challenge, such as the WC, I quite agree, and that’s why I keep my entries pure. As a general practice however, it might not be a good idea. I usually say like this: If the postprocessing can be automated, that is, if the post is possible to run like a batch process, then it’s a good thing. Detailed retouching on stills is another thing… Then it ceases to be 3D and turns into some sort of photoshop crap instead.

Exactamente!
