Master Sword - One week, how am i doing?

So here I am after one week of 3-D modeling and using blender and I have a question. Here is my latest project and I was wondering. After a week would the many experienced users of this forum say I am behind the curve when it comes to skill and learning. Remember one week of experience and this is what I made last night and early today, probably about 5 hours fo work. Maybe an hour more or less, I didn’t really keep track.

I think the sword is pretty decent but I would like to do more with the scene itself sooner or later. I would have to learn more though so I could make something like stained glass or somthing that would depict a few elements. But for the time being at least, I consider this scene finished. Any comments and critisism are appreciated.

Behind the curve? No, definitely couldn’t say that. Well, I could… but that’d be simple jealousy. I’ve been playing around with blender for a good while now. I suck at it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Overall, considering your inexperience, I’d give the scene decent-ish marks. There’s a few little things to be done to improve it, but it’s not bad.

For your sword, specifically, it’s hard to judge. I know there’s details on it, but they’re too small to judge. If the sword is the primary subject, you need to zoom in on it a bit more, or make it bigger.

For the scene as a whole… I’d look at the textures a bit closer. They look mostly like they’re procedural textures. You might try using image textures instead. There’s also the issue of lighting.

Hi! One week is not a very long time when it comes to learning Blender. I’ve been using it about every other day for two years and I still am learning so much. Blender takes years to learn partly because it is such a huge program and partly because 3D graphics is an artform. It’s the art part that takes the longest for me.

The marble texture on the walls might need to be smaller, and zooming in on the sword would probably be a good idea.

Thank you all for your input, I have retextured the scene, zoomed in a very little bit, changer the lighting completely, and added some new elements to the scene itself as well. I will be posting the new scene soon but since I have quadrupled the resolution ( I feel foolish for not knowing I could before) it is taking a little while to render.

That sword doesn’t look like the Master Sword.

I took quite a few libertes, I didnt want to make an exact copy, plus I dont know how to make it look like somthing has been engraved yet so i couldnt do engravings on the blade. I just took the general design into account such as the silverish blae, and the purple handle (Excuse my lack of sword termonology) and the triforce being present somewhere on the blade, whether engraved, or made of a goldish material.

Make the hilt wider.
It will look that much cooler.
