I have a model of a hand but when I scale down the object suddenly the material changes and ends up looking translucent. I have no idea why this is happening. I tried applying the scale but that didn’t make any difference.
I’ve attached an image of what it looks like normally and what it looks like when scaled down.
It could have something to do with Sub-Surface Scattering. That is based on the thickness of things. As it gets thinner when it scales down, the SSS may be having a greater effect.
Does it do the same thing if you pipe the diffuse texture straight into the Base Color, rather than mixing it with the HSV adjustment?
Maybe tweaking the values in that will help.
You could also see if disconnecting the roughness texture has an effect. That will help you narrow down which aspect is contributing to it.
The image used for the roughness looks like it’s called “…displacement…”. Does it have suitable values for the roughness, rather than using it as a bump map?
