Material for a Mirror

I’ve messing around with the material on my object trying to get it to reflect like a mirror with no success. I can’t seem to find a decent tutorial on it either. The best I can do is make it somewhat reflective but it does not look anything like a mirror. Anyone have any useful tips?

BI - Enable the ray mirror option and set the amount of reflectivity (the ‘Mirror’ panel)
Cycles - Add a glossy node and mix it into the rest of your material
