Material IPO for particles

I’ve created an RGB IPO for a stream of particles. Frame 1 starts out as orange, and frame 100 ends up as grey. The problem I am having is that the spawned child particles also are using this material animation. I don’t want them too. I only want the original parent particles to have this material animation. I want the children to just be grey. I can’t figure out how to do it … anybody else have any ideas?


If you use a Blend texture (possibly on an empty for axis mapping) it should map to the particle position rather than the particle life.


Wow, I’ll give that a try … I never even knew anything like that was possible. Hmm … that brings up all kinds of ideas. :smiley:
