Materials... bah.

I obviously don’t know how to work with materials or something… I always get a long list of materials of basically the same stuff and just basically have trouble getting materials to assign some times or for two different materials to have different textures… I’ll change a texture on one material and then it changes the texture on the other material too. Anyways, I hope this isn’t the wrong place for this. I want to know, if possible, how I can delete all these materials im not using off of the list. All I should have (and want) are the legs and one cushion material, not all the extras.

Well, the ones with 0 next to them are un-used. If you save the file, then exit Blender, then re-open the file, they will be gone. If you notice also, the F next to the material name when it is assigned, this is an option to create a Fake user of the material. A Fake user prevents the material from being deleted even when it is not assigned to a mesh.

When you change a texture, you must understand that some changes are to the texture itself, and some changes are to the way the material is applied to the mesh.

For Instance, if you change Tex from a cloud type to a marble type, it will change for every material. On the other hand, if you change options in the Map To panel, you will only change how the texture is effecting that particular material.

Be sure to read thisand this.

Thank you.
