I hadn’t heard of it, but to be honest, I’m still a little peeved about that whole “learning edition” mess. It didn’t bother some people, but I thought it was a but poorly-executed move on their part. I’m guessing that with the continued proliferation of far more inexpensive 3D tools, as well as a high-end 3D market that’s probably saturated, companies like Alias will have to start employing a more proactive approach to their marketing.
Frankly, I like the direction that 3d is going. The more players that get involved, the sooner the prices will be forced to drop. I think 3d has long been too closed a community. A proliferation of easy to obtain apps at competitive prices will only accelerate production and development of the art.
Of course, I’m sticking with Blender regardless, but as a whole, speaking as an advocate of 3d art, I think it’s great.
Ha ha, I got the feeling my post was heretical, no one wanted to touch it, LOL. It’s still an interesting idea, putting on an online class… Hummmmm Now that I think about it, maybe we should do stuff like that?
I’m so busy all the time, I’m not sure I’ll be able to attend, but I might try to peak in and see how they do it.

Not at all Ingie, the thing is that sometimes people in the forum want to keep the Blender thing a kind of “Religious” issue …3 years ago I used to say I like to play my favourite hobbie: to try to do the things you do with Maya, but with Blender
…Now I can hear a million screams yelling “YOU’RE CRAAAZY” but I don’t mind…
What I wanna say is that sometimes you can find the very best of the
life (for example, nice tips on 3D) looking at other sides, 3DS, Lightwave, Maya, etc…
By the way, is that session on Alias|WaveFront web site?
Thanks!

Very cool idea, and i agree, if we could do something like that it could attract a few noobs towards Blender.
I had thought about half way through summer about holding free classes for kids who want to get into 3D and teaching them the basics of Blender, maybe next summer. Maybe others could do this as well in their communities.
The more ppl we can get to use Blender, the more possible it is that one day it will be used for great things and recongined for the awesome software that it is!!!

Blend on, and blend well!!!
