Mayan pyramid

I’ve been working on this for two days, and I want constructive critisism on it. Thanks.

Wow. I love the detailed textures and attention to scale. Other than an environment, and possibly the completion of the top (do a google image search to see what I mean), It appears as if the textures on parts of the stairs are a bit stretched.

Great work, keep it up!!

Yeah, I know about the little house on top, I forgot to mention that I’m not done yet. About the stairs, how could I make the stuff less strechy? I tried different stuff but…

The walls look a little flat but maybe it’s the lightning

Still very solid work

For an environment, you could simply use an HDRi image.

Purely based on the rough geometric shape of your object, you can say it is a pyramid, but what you cannot call your pyramid is mayan, or anything mesoamerican, for that matter, it is only a stereotype.

The steps in the stairs of actual such pyramids are very narrow, you can’t stand on your whole foot if you face perpendicular to a face of the pyramid as with modern stairs. You will not find such straight shapes either, not in the way you are used to in modern constructions made with machinery.

Aren’t they considerably larger than that? (Judging by the stairs)

Yes I know it doesn’t exactly look like the ones in Mexico but I did want to make it smaller. Keep them coming

Hi ! Good modeling but problem with textures… Too repetitive, particularly on the steps.

Keep it up !

Something on top, like a sheltered entrance or something?

UV map it to prevent the stretchyness. Then in the materials pane just hit UV under map input.

It needs to be taller. Just hit scale Z

I agree with the steps texture but also I think the corners are too round.

P.S. This my 42nd post. The answer to life the universe and everything,

The model is pretty good, however the main thing that this is lacking is lighting. You’ll probably want to turn on Ambient Occlusion, and maybe even turn the material’s emit value to around 0.2. Also, turn on ray shadow on your sun, and give it a little bit of softness.
