I’m not in the habit of naming my sketches, but I knocked this little one out while I was taking a break from working on other projects and it kind of named itself.

For those of you who don’t get the reference, the name refers to Marshall McLuhan… the guy first came up with the concept that “the medium is the message.” I don’t agree with a lot of his logic, but this seemed to me to illustrate a lot of what he was saying.
The camera is supposed to be pointing at the guy. However, I skewed the perspective a lot in this sketch, so things may or may not look exactly as they were intended.
Haha! Actually, the idea is based on McLuhan’s premise that as we are exposed to more types of media, they become extensions of ourselves… an integral part of our very being. They stretch us thin, overwhelm, unite, and separate us in positive and negative ways. However, once exposed, the detaching of any of those extensions is both difficult and painful. That’s kinda what I was getting at with this.
