Mechwarrior- joint rigging correct?

um… I’ll just start off with an example…
for the leg I have 3 connected armatures… (an armature extruded 3 times) and each leg section is parented to the armatures… and the armatures are on a locked track… tracking empties

is this probably the right way to go to animate my mech… or should i try something different?

you would probably be best creating an ik rig for the legs like any biped
