I’ve been working on this for a few days now… I’m just looking for some quick feedback. What looks good / bad? What can be improved?

any comments appreciated

Great work! I’d pilot that mech anyday. One thing I noticed is that those hands should be extended more from the body on arms as with other 'mechs.

I’ve been wanting to start on a 'mech myself but am not quite sure where to start any advice?

rifleman(quick guess)? unless its a really light mech, the cockpit probably should be smaller(assuming youre going for the battletech universe).

you might also want to post this over at MekTek in the artwork forums.

Not a Rifleman, I’m not sure what it is, but not that

It’s looking good, you should post it here , it’s the artwork section of a mechwarrior forum I visit and you should get some good feedback there.

yeah, the design is based off a rifleman. I did some modifying to fit my personal tastes. I’m not really much into mechwarriors, I just saw the little toy and said ‘wow, that’d be fun to make in Blender’. I’m going to do some more work on the cockpit and I might rework the arms a bit. I’ll check out that mechwarrior forum though, see if I can get any inspiration from there.

Good modeling so far. To get some really cool proportions, you might treat this model as if it is missing the forearms and lower legs. So, double the length of each of the arms and legs, and make the new forearms and lower legs 50-75% bigger than the old ones. Leave the head the same size and you should have some very powerful proportions

Fixed up the head and arms a bit, started adding materials. I handed off the model to a friend who’s going to rig it. For the materials, I’m going for an old rust / used to be cameo kind of look.

Hi

Yeah, that’s a cool stuff… But as my own sense, it’s global shape is too straight, too…cubic ? So try to smooth it, it’s too regular.
