This is just a small project I’m working on, and I’d like to know what I can fix, improve, add, etc.
EDIT: I’ve attached a more current picture.

I think it needs some depth. like some towers in the background slightly out of focus.
you just gave me an idea!! ding lightbulb!!
The bricks that you see inside the open window are a bid confusing. I’d expect the same pattern as you see on the outside. Otherwise it’s a bit of an eye grabber.
I agree about the bricks. The interior ones should match the exterior (size and pattern). Also, maybe some thickness to the wall around the window and/or maybe a window sill. Also, I’m not sure about the shutters. I don’t think there were that type in medieval times. Vertical wood planks with a couple horizontal planks holding them together might be more fitting.
Otherwise it’s looking good. Keep Blendin’!!!
The texture is too repetitive. Also, it looks like you have made the texture seamless by mirroring it, which usually is a bad idea since it leaves a very distinctive pattern, as seen most clearly on the left tower.
The right tower’s roof is looking a bit bumpy
Yeah… I’m working on this during school, so my time was limited, and i didnt have a chance to fix the roof yet. Not sure why the texture is doing that, but i can easily fix it. As for the inside wall, you wouldnt see the same pattern, because they would have more bricks on the inside, kinda like a surfcae that the outer bricks are attached to… But the inside wall would be more decorative that the bricks outside.
I plan on fixing all the issues asap, but this is still a pretty good picture considering it’s only an hour and a half of work!!
I think if the bricks had some volume and stuck out more, it would make it a lot more interesting.
It appears the textures are just slapped on very simple mesh shapes, can we see a clay render?
a few things
how long did this take to render? any chance of a higher resolution version
Took about a minute to render… This is only 50% resolution, I’ll try it at a higher resolution.
This is not nearly done. And yes it is very simple models textured. But, that’s all you need… Alot of fine details are not nessecary when you can texture well enough lol. I plan on add more details though to draw eyes away from the simple modeling…
I think this could benefit from a custom bump map. Like use the brick texture, and paint white in the spaces between the cracks, then fill the rest with black. and bump up (lol, geddit?) the nor value now, it looks a bit flat. If you need any help, I’d be glad to.
Lol… I’ll make a normal map for it. One of those blue and purple ones.
As for the texture itself, I dont really like how it looks. I tried a mixed matched rough stone texture, but it didnt tile well… I get all my textures from cgtextures.com so I’ll get on finding a better texture. The roof needs alot of work.
Also, someone mentioned defroming the candle flame? I can easily do it! All the flame is, is a altered uv sphere with a pinkish red cloud texture material.
I’ve fixed my repeating texture problems. I re-did the uv mapping on only the faces visible to the camera, that way i had a section that fit into the image editor, instead of being squished up and deformed.
Unfortunatly, I cant work on this scene until tuesday. My home computer is broken and the only time a get access to a computer right now is at school.
