i’m trying to use to the free textures that you can download from the Quixel megascan pack. I see there are a lot of textures and I am not sure how to use them.
Usually i found:
AO, BaseColor, Bump, Cavity, Displacement, Gloss, Normal, Roughness and Specular.
BaseColor, Roughness and Bump are the usual setup (i think).
I do not understand the others:
Is Gloss the same as metal map?
Do i simply connect the specular map to specular in the principled BSDF
How do i use the normal and Displacement maps?
How do i use AO and Cavity (if i use them at all)
I just did a very quick test. After importing the model, go to the basic material, select the principled node, then press Ctrl-Shift-T (which should take you to the full setup). NB. If you haven’t already, enable the Node Wrangler addon first. Navigate to the images, and select them all and OK. Blender will take care of the rest.
NB. You probably won’t need the AO and cavity maps.
Thanks,
I did the same and this is way i posted the question because the results are strange. For example the roughness map is not used and instead the gloss map is used with inverted colors… So I was hoping someone had better insight than me
I downloaded from FAB where you download directly the textures. I will try to use the Plugin but the 3.7 version is not working with blender 4.2 but i see there are some modded plugins around
