Merge at Center Shading Problem

Hi All,

I’m having a problem that I can’t explain or figure out how to fix.

I’m modelling a circular surface where I have merged the vertices at the center.

I have a subdivision modifier applied to the model but it produces some jagged shading that I can’t seem to get rid of.

I’ve recalculated the normals and checked for doubles.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I’m missing?

The verices of the inner triangles (or even an additional ring) may not be on the same height… (you may also think about merging every two triangles to quads…)
