Mesh Deform and Armature not syncing

Hi guys, hope someone can give me some help with this or has come across the problem before. I’ve rigged this character using mesh deform and an armature. Now he’s all good and dandy in his original file. But when I group him and link him into a new file, and create a proxy, when I move his head around his eyes are out of sync with the body.
The eyes and eyelids are separate meshes and that are parented to the eye and eyelid bones within the mesh, which are in turn parented to the head. When I look at it it almost seems that the armature is moving fine, but by the time it has to go and deform the cage and then come back and deform the mesh, it’s actually behind, if that makes sense. Has anyone had any experience of this. I really like how the mesh deform is working on this character, I’ve tried to just use an armature before with him, and it just wasn’t working out, so I’m loathed to go back to that. I’d really appreciate any help with this.

Hi,

my buddy had a similar problem, seems like it’s a bug (a developer reported on it, I think it was Brecht ?). Try linking the object and the armature separately instead of the entire group.

Hi Hadriscus, that’s great, I moved all the objects into another group, separate from the armature and linked them into the new scene and it works a treat. I couldn’t find anything online about it. Thanks so much for that, your a lifesaver!

Glad it helped ! Yes, it should be documented.
