Mesh deforming slightly when applying automatic weights

I have a mesh that is deforming just slightly when I apply automatic weights:

I’ve tried the suggestions here:

And I’ve done “Apply Pose as Rest Pose” on all the bones, while in pose mode. I’m not sure what else to try; any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here’s the .blend file:

If you go to the modifiers tab you can see a lot of mess there
Delete all armature modifiers and try once again.
