Mesh visability issue??

Anybody know what this is all about. Its annoying, I can see the hidden edges of my mesh all of a sudden and cannot turn it off. Even the little button “limit selection to visible” I have tried everything to make it so it looks nice. (I dont want to see edges from the other side) It seems to happen at odd times and can be remedied by appending that object into a new scene.

Your object is most likely very small. Scale it up.
Ensure the view clip start value is not too small. The default is 0.1
If you are in perspective view, try orthographic (numpad 5)
