Hi,
I’m pretty new to Blender and would welcome some support overcoming what I’m sure is a really basic problem, but one which I’ve spent hours trying to resolve and it’s driving me a bit crazy. I’ve been working my way through various tutorial projects (doughnut, chair, sword in stone) some of it’s sticking in my head, some things I need to keep going back to, but I’m making progress.
Presently I’m working on Andrew Price’s ‘Anvil’ tutorial, so far so good but I just can’t figure out how to see the mesh without applying the subdiv modifier.
Here, in Andrews video, you can see the verts/edges and underlying mesh, pre subdiv:
In my model whatever view mode I go into and whatever ‘visualisation’ buttons I select on the modifier I simply cannot see the underlying mesh.
Post subdiv modifier application the mesh is visible, but I now can’t easily tweak it to minimise stretching, improve topology, etc:
If somebody could point out the obvious to me I’d be very grateful. I’m sure I’ve not grasped something really basic/obvious. I would have posted a couple of screenshots of my model for improved clarity, but apparently as a new user I can only post a single image (?!).
Many thanks.
