Metal texture in Blender 2.8

currently, I am trying to create a metallic sphere in Blender 2.8 by using the Principled Shader, but when I render the result I only get a violet sphere. What am I doing wrong here?

Uploading: metal_sphere_01a.blend…

The violet color mean , that a texture map is missing.
Probably in your environement material. Switch in your node editor. (Top left) from object to world. And replace the missing texture file.

I did what you suggested, but I still can’t seem to figure out how to accomplish this. I even looked into a YouTube tutorial, but to no avail. Why is this so complicated? There is still the violet color & no metal texture.
