Microscope animation transformation constraint not working

Hey there guys,

I’m doing a microscope animation but the transformation constraint I’ve got isn’t working. here’s the file using Blender 2.64.9 (r52542M) on a Mac …

Here’s my file where you rotate the arrow empty to lift up another empty that is parented to a object (the microscope tray).

Problem is the tray is lifting the right distance but only when you rotate 180 degrees when i need it to rotate 360 degrees for that distance. When I put 360 for the rotation it jumps back to it’s first position at 180 degrees.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Can anyone help?

Looks like a problem or bug with the constraint. Instead of using the constraint you can add a driver to the Z location of the emptyStage so that its movement is driven by the rotation of the other empty. That should work.

Sweet just what i wanted. Is there some way I can limit the rotation of the emptyHeightKnob to 360 degrees but where the emptyStage is limited to move from one particular top position to a bottom position?

eg at 0 degrees for the emptyHeightKnob the emptyStage is at the top most position, at 180 degrees for the emptyHeightKnob the emptyStage is at the middle position, at 360 degrees for the emptyHeightKnob the emptyStage is at the bottom most position.

I am not sure exactly what you want to do. You can remove the generator modifier for the driver curve and then add your own curve. In the attached blend file the rotation of the rot empty drives the position of the up empty but only to a certain point.
