Mid Century Vanity

Hi all,
A new piece called “Mid Century Vanity”.
Read in it what you want, but you can expand the section below if you want to know what I meant.

What I meant to say with this piece

I see this piece as a reflection on vanity associated with technology, science and consumerism.
I worked this piece with classical symbols form the vanitas style of painting, namely the dead vegetation, the skeleton and the clock.
I chose a mid century setup, as it was a period of quick technological development, and everything seemed possible.
This is also an homage to a generation leaving us, and along them the dreams of that era.
The style of the period remains very trendy to this day, also highlighting an heritage, beyond the critical viewpoint.
Finally, not everything seems fully dead, and in my mind, it represents our relative difficulty to let go of the dreams of the past.

I had done a few experiments with post-processing, but I thought that the almost raw shot was the best. Happy to have your opinion.

And a little solid shot, for good measure. This is a very simple scene in the end. I have used an HDRI and modeled a single window to get the soft still life feeling. I had to boost the exposure significantly and use 32000 samples with denoising to get an acceptable quality with this setup  .

I used a volume for giving that slightly hazy atmosphere.
