looks like the board is a bit screwed!

Hmm…I don’t see those.

I think you have adware. Try running ad-aware, and they’ll probably go away.

But that is weird. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t see any of those images in my browser, what browser do you use? IE ?

checked for viruses? trojans? adware?

btw, I think you should check your system before telling that the board is screwed :-?

mh must be firefox.
it doe snot happen under IE.
also the avatar images are different sometimes!

claas

find a tool that checks your system, I use Firefox under Linux and I never sees those images…

smells adware to me…

Running firefox w/ AdBlock, and I see no banners… just like I want.

SpyBot S&D is better than ad-aware:

www.spybot.info

well funny is that some pop ups made it through firefox’s pop up blocker!

i will check the addware stuff

Arent you supposed to use both in conjunction? Also there’s HijackThis in case neither gets rid of a problem

From what I understand they can conflict with one another’s removal. And any backups from one may cause issues with the other.

Something akin to installing two anti-virus apps.

At least that’s my understanding.

The issue is that the backups are detected as active spyware and removed, but if both programs think it’s spyware then there’s a pretty good chance that it is and won’t matter.

Else you can tell by the directory what it is and simply not let it be removed.

well firefox worksfine again!
there was a lot on that windows pc!

lol secure system! sure! i harly browse other website like 3d newsmagazines and apple websites. and the system here was full with crap!

no, its more crazy than that.

spyware removal tools are often litigated against by the adware creating companies. (basicly wasting the money of the people creating tools to remove it)

the thing about it, is different tools have folded to different ad companies, so ad aware will be missing removal tools for a few software items, and spybot will be missing tools to remove a few others.

its lots more complex than that, but that is the critical assessment the industry from the foremost professional in spyware.

he has a list of ALL spyware removal tools that he knows of (both free and paid) and he rates them based on their performace, or if they are a scam (many are scams to get more spyware onto your computers)

Alltaken

Spybot catches a lot of junk. Even from apparently legitimate web sites it’ll occasionally block advertisers attempting to install tracking devices. And of course always have a software firewall in place. One of Linux’s shortfalls is a global per address block instead of per application protection. (I may be wrong here and would be glad to hear it but IP tables . . . aren’t so good as local machine protection.)

I’m just curious cekuhnen, what exactly does mh mean? Is it English? Make human? My horror? You’ve used it before but your English is a little accented. Just trying to understand.
